Profile of Daniel Strickland

>>Born in the marshy suburbanite bog of Baton Rouge, LA, Daniel Strickland was raised in the mainstream of many an artists’ flow. He was immersed in art at an early age, with an affinity for brightly colored spandexed characters that from then on led him to concoct his own. No longer a boy, his passion for art matured as his love of comics remained. In 2000 Daniel attended the Savannah College of Art & Design to further explore the medium. He had the pleasure of working directly under many noted industry professionals such as George Pratt (Enemy Ace), Scott Hampton (The Life Eaters), & Mark Schultz (Cadillacs & Dinosaurs). Then with his work more finely tuned & fully realized, he graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Sequential Arts, Summa Cum Laude. Since SCAD, quite the bit of freelance work has ebbed his way. His visual commentary on Hurricane Katrina on his December 2005 cover for “offbeat Magazine” won the New Orleans Press Club Award for ‘Best Editorial Illustration.’ Not soon thereafter in 2006, Daniel published his first graphic novel, a contemporary version of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.” (Stone Arch Books) Daniel has also done the occasional real estate illustration for Burns & Co. and has assisted in the inking of mainstream comics for his good friend and mentor, Roland Paris. Daniel's Life, Love & Labor are his Works. This is StrickArt. ::written by Super C-GiR::
